4pm-  Today was the dixie invitional track meet and it was a good day.  I ran the 1600m run.  So me and the freshman got out of school and caught the bus and went over to dixie high school.  After waiting for about 30 minutes to warmup, me, matt, abel, mike, casey, and byron went and warmed up.  Krenshaw and Dave came along to get a run in.  So me, abel, and matt went 2 miles.  We got back with 2 girls races left.  I got my spikes on and prepared to race.  I was in the second heat.  They call us to the start and the race started.  Coach had told me I had a 4:50 in me.  At first I was suprised and thought that was a little fast for me.  But then I got it into my head that I can do this!  So we all started when they shot the gun like usual.  I got a good start and got right with the leaders.  I got good speed and said I was in a good position, to just keep moving up.  I didn't know my splits as I ran, I just listened to what coach told me to do and I got a good time.  Coach later told me my splits and my first lap was a 1:12.  Not bad.  The second lap we definetly slowed down.  I could tell and coach said to pass people, always be passing people.  This lap was 1:17.  Some lady said we were right on pace to get 5 minutes, so that got me worried.  I just tried to stay with the leaders on the third lap.  At 500m left, coach said to get to the lead, so I went up there plain and simple.  Third lap: 1:16.  The last 400 I just started keeping speeding up.  At 300m I really gave the speed a good kick.  The hurricane kid tried to pass me so I countered that and passed him back.  At 200m I just started kicking and sprinting and got the win.  Now that I think about it, I ran a pretty smart good race.  Now I need to keep the goodness going and get a great 800m time tomorrow.
