6pm- Me and my dad ran in the desert up to Mustang Pass where we (the youngsters) saw eric gould last year.  I pushed it a bit up to the top, then cruised easy back down.  Down by the road the trail was flooded a ton and there was a little pond.  Maybe the water tank on the turkey farm road burst.

7am- Ran 7 miles out to Middleton and back.  Last two miles were tempo which were really hard cause of the hill by fire station and the hill back up to the school.  Really pumped but a bit nervous for the first race of the season.  Dont really know what its gonna be like or what time i'll get.  Excited to find out.

3pm- For afternoon run today we ran the usual 3 miler from the high schoolout to Arctic Circle and back.  At first I just felt like i was gliding across the road.  Then the last 2 miles i had a horrible stomach cramp so that pretty much ruined it.  After we did weights and got our jerseys.

7am- This morning was a good workout.  We went down to hells hole to do our hill workout.  I woke up feeling a bit sore and stuff but felt good by the time we got doing the workout.  Coming back up out of hell hole was hard like always.  Then we stopped at a white church and got some water out of the spickit.  it wasnt too cold but i tasted really good.  Then when we got back we had already gone a little bit over our mileage.  Plus my mom had already left cuz she had to go to work and couldn't wait for me any more.  so i got a mile and a quarter extra today.

6pm- Normal 3 miler out to arctic circle.  After we did most of the plyos but no weights cuz we had to go to the runner center.  There we had pizza, got prizes and steve gave us tips on racing stratigy.  Good time.

3pm- As soon as we started the warmup my heel started hurting so i just took it a bit easy.  When we got back i told coach and he had me go to mark.  He taped me up and told me what to do and all that.  So at home i rolled it with a waterbottle and a tennis ball.  Then i put it in a bucket of ice water and that flippin hurt.  So tomorow is a rest day and hopefully i can run on friday and in the race cuz this junk sucks.

3pm- But anyways it did.  In PE we had to run a little bit.  I tried to take it a little easy.  But i didnt have the new supportive insoles i got in my shoes so the heel of doom started hurting.  So on our warm up it was fine.  As we did our run to green springs it hurt just a tinge.  I tried to do the 200's but after 2 of them, it hurt to bad so i stopped.  Tomorows our race.  Hopefully it wont hurt so i can race in the varsity race baby!

6am- This morning run felt really nice.  It was a cool temperature.  But the best was that i felt great with my foot and all.  So that was good.

3pm- Dude it was super hot.  I sweated a lot.   Believe or not.  Haha that rymes.  Anyways we did harts warm/cool and us level 2s were supposed to do 5x 3 mins but coach made me and paul do just three cuz of our problems.  The first one i stayed right about with hunter cuz coach said for us to stay with somebody.  Then hunter started fading on the second so i stayed with kyler.  On the last one i tried to stay with kyler but i was dying and my legs felt funny and i faded back behind him a bit like 50 feet.  After we lifted weights but i didn't have to do plyos cuz of my foot. 6am- Today was a really fun day of running.  The morning was pretty fun.  It was raining really hard and we were all soaked when we got back to the high school.

3pm-  From 10 o clock to 3 o clock there was no rain, then right when we started running it started raining.  It was awesome!  Running in the rain is the best.  So we did 6 miles with 3 fartleks.  Our rout was up by sunrise tires, then up on to foremaster.  We ran along foremaster then back down and up past costco to pineview.  We did our fartleks starting at the new greek resturant thing, top of foremaster ridge, and by the dinosaur museum.  I felt good the whole time and no trouble with my heel.  I think the strassburg sock is really helping a ton and i love being able to run and not worry about my heel hurting.

8:45am- This race was good.  I was more nervous for this one then the other races.  Dunno why.  But at the first we had a good start.  It didn't seem to fast but us pine views went straight to the front pretty much.  Halfway through the first lap it was me, kyler, hobbs, and colton in a pack right at the front.  That was the plan, to stay together.  Then on the second lap about by the bathroom those three started pulling away.  I hardly noticed until they were like 30 feet in front.  Then the panguitch kids passed me.  Then Sunshine came onto my side and i had vowed to never let him beat me again, so i stayed right on him.  I stayed behind him till the last lap.  As we started to head south again to the top, I started to kick it into gear.  I passed Sunshine then at the top passed the second panguitch kids.  Going around the corner i looked over and saw the big banner so i just pushed it from there.  Almost at the end I was caught up to hobbs and sprinted harder.  But he saw my shadow so he sprinted harder too and we came in 4 and 5.  It was a hard race but the last lap I just felt great for some reason.  The best part was that my heel had no pain whatsoever so I really hope this foot injury is done forever.

3pm- Today was hot.  Pretty much really really hot.  It was not too hard of a run but the heat from the sun made it a intense run.  For the run we ran 7 miles plus striders in the middle.  and a half mile warmup before.  We were gonna go to the east but i guess there was a bad guy on the loose so we went to the park by the sunbowl.  Then back.  On the way back we stopped by jasons house and drank from the hose and cool off a bit. 6am- 3 miler to arctic circle.

3pm- 5.5 miles total.  The workout was 4x2mins 1 min recover, and 5x400s 30 sec recover plus harts warm/cool.  This was a good workout.  I did pretty good considering i fell a sleep 8th period.  At first when we did our warmup it was pouring and by the time we did 400's it was back to way hot.  On the first 2 two minuters i stayed like 20 feet ahead i felt way good.  Then fatige got to me and i just stayed right with colton on the last two.  Hunter stayed pretty much up with me and colton, he did good.  On the 400's I rolled my ankle 5 billion times cuz we had to do them on the field by the tennis courts.  cuz the gate was locked.  But i stayed right with josh and colton on those.  Hopefully the guys did good up at murry. and girls i guess.

12pm- 8 miles.  4 30 seconds, 3 800s, and 3 1000 indian runs.  It was a hard workout.  I pretty much warmed up on the 30 seconders cuz i got there late.  the 1000s were hard but kinda fun too.  the last one really hurt and my legs felt like jessica (hill) was biting them.  it was rough.  but everything is easier when your the favorite.

3pm-  three super easy miles.  Me and jake had to run with the girls cuz of injury.  I wish i could go with the girls everytime.  They go so easy and slow and I LOVE it! My stupid plantar was fine and so i will just ice it i guess.  Im not sure though.

3pm- 4 miles easy, 1 mile indian run, 4x100s, and 4 hill sprints.  I felt okay today but after my foot was feeling pretty sore.  so that why i have my foot in a bucket of ice water right now.  but i was a good day of running, not super hard but a good workout.  and it felt way hotter than normal today.  oh and we had a great time with some pv haters/possible hellians in the parking lot of albertsons.  hopefully they didnt report us for something, i dont know.

6am-  arctic circle for 3 miles.  it was good and good and me and andrew pretty much ran together.  We were with the guys until a bit after we turned around at arctic circle, then they suddenly accelerated a lot.  So me and red follower just had a good run.

3pm-  7.25 miles.  michigans and 1m warm/cool.  So i was ready for this workout.  But when coach explained a michigan to us, Able wasn't sure exactly what to do so coach told him again.  In there somewhere coach said that we did two sets of it.  But i guess i didn't stay around long enough to hear that is was a joke.  So during the michigan i stayed with josh and it was way hard but i could have made it harder if i didn't think that we had another one right after it.  I could have pushed harder but i guess it was coaches fault.  he's not perfect so its ok.

9:30am-  Pretty fun race at cottonwood park.  We won as a team and i think i had a good race; it's hard to compare races in cross.  This course was a pretty hard course but fun too.  The hills were good to make it fun cause flat courses just seem more boring.  The race turned out way good.  It was almost like a miracle that i felt so good.  The day before my throat was still burning like crazy, and me and ryan and able and colton and jason didn't fall asleep until 12:30.  Any ways, once the race started the first part felt stressful cause i couldn't run where i wanted too, i just had too go around people and stuff.  Coach and everyone had told us the place to pass people was up the hills.  But the place I passed everybody was going down the hills.  I just let my legs go free and everyone else kinda went fast but tried to control there speed going down.  Halfway through the second loop, paul came up with me and got like 10 feet ahead and i told myself i was just gonna stay right here behind paul.  But before i knew it he was like 50 feet ahead of me and getting farther.  paul had a way good race, i could tell he really dared hardcore.  Half a mile later i was catching paul and feeling strong.  When coach said there was 400 left i kept going a little harder and going around the last turn i was right up with hobbs and paul.  and thats how we finished pretty much.  I had a good race but i wish i could have pushed it harder like paul.

6am-  this morning we did a little extra than usual.  we did the normal 3 miler then 4 hill sprints and 4 100's after.

3pm-  This workout ended up great.  It was the first time I have really pushed beyond my limits and dared to go harder this season.  We had 4 30 seconders, 3 800's, and 2 1000's indian run plus 1 miler warm/cool.  It started good and i felt ready for a good day.  The 800's were harder than the 30 seconders.  Then the 1000's really tested me.  I was already tired from the 800's but felt pretty good starting out.  When we started the second 1000 my legs were absolutly dead.  When were about 600 meters in, i just couldn't handle it and i started fading, first next to matt, then back tell i was next to casey.  I was ready to give up.  but then matt and casey kept encouraging me and pushed me a bit, literally.  Then casey said, "come on nick, dare to do this."  That reminded me of coaches pep talk on friday and I sprinted back to my spot and was abel to finish strong.  It was good for me and casey both to break through mentally like that.  I hope i can be abel to find that inner push inside for the next few races, and really do good at cedar.

pm-  did the usual pre race run, which was sandburgs but 4 miles.  I should not have ran.  I truly was kinda fine but most of the time i was hurting. this run was also the most scaryest day of my life.  so we were all swimmin in the pond and all when all the andrew lets out this screech and dissapears under water.  so mathew my new hero runs and dives into the pond, clothes and all.  so him and andrew are under there when all the sudden jake goes under to.  then paul. then me.  ALL THE FRESHMEN!!!  under the water this tentacle thing was choking me when all the sudden matt rips it away from around my neck and i floated up to the top of the water.  when i got up all the freshmen were ashore so i swam over there fast.  we waited, and waited, and waited.  but no sign of matthew.  then all the sudden he bursts out of the water gasping for breath giving this giant octopus thing the choke hold.  the octopus suddenly screeched and swam away to the depths of the pond.  matthew swam to shore and we all cheered for him.  then got our shoes on and ran away.  this was so scary but rad too.  now i know why matt never gets in when we go to sandburgs.

pm- RACE.  This was a good race but a bit dissapointing.  I had really hoped to break 17 for this course, based off suu race and cedar race. I dont know if it was not running for 5 days or what but I had the worst side ache of my life so far.  It felt like a knife stabbing into by stomach and through my back with blood dripping all over.  In the race our group of pine views had a good pack.  Matt was pulling away a little bit but the rest of us were staying together good.  When were about by the bathrooms on our big loop, the side ache started coming on until it was just killing.  I slowed down and sunshine and josh and a few guys passed me.  Then coming down the slight, slight slope right before we started the last lap, I started to feel better.  I picked up the pace and was catching a hellian.  I almost passed him at the end but he just edged me out.  As a team for JV we did great and ended up with and UNDEFEATED SEASON!  The rest of the team did good but no other region titles.  Hopefully I can be in shape and physically prepared for foot locker.

pm- Did a bit on the bike.  And coach, this is for you.  Jake and Paul said you wanted to know whats wrong with me.  Mark said i have a bursitis in my knee and tendenitis in the same exact place.  And there was a very sharp pain under my shin and he pressed on it.  I'll have to admit, at that moment a little tear fell.  He also diagnosed me with a category 969 wussitis.

pm-  I went and swam at the rec center.  I did about 10 laps, then asked a life gaurd for an aqua belt and i ran in the water.  After me and my mom went to our neighbors work and got an x ray and there was an official crack in my bone and got the official news that i will not be running in california.  how depressing.

pm- Went for a nice swim.  Got like 10-12 laps of about 160 bpm for my heart rate.  Then for 10 minutes did some good hard pool running.  I did 4 intervals of 1:30 hard, then 30 seconds rest, then repeat.  I really went hard on those getting my heart rate up to 200-210 bpm.  I think that may be dangerously high but it was good.

pm- I got to start a little bit of jogging.  It was so fun.  I'm so thankful i have a good body that can run (if its not injured).  Walked most of the way but with my mom did some little like 1 minute jog sessions.  My knees are a bit weak and my left ankle too but they should get stronger as I keep jogging.  finished with about half mile running, 1 and a half walking.
